mastermind JAPAN and CORE JEWELS upcoming collaborative venture features luxery taken to a whole new level. Based on mastermind JAPAN’s always visible skull imagery, the brand’s designer Masaaki Homma has always viewed skulls with a positive outlook rather then the usual negativity the skull has come to represent. Even thou skull rings are definitely not new to the genre, the quality and attention to detail on this project is incredible. The four pieces seen here all share the same angular shape as they are differentiated by color and the use of jewels.



Prices range from $5,900 USD - $16,100 USD. Quite an expensive purchase...but to those that can afford it, enjoy. After all, mastermind Japan is indeed Japanese high end fashion.

I happen to notice how my recent purchase has been getting trashed in that poll to the right. Yes, I'm talking about the Jordan 6 Rings.

I'm here to defend my pick up. Granted the 6 Rings is a fusion Jordan release, the shoe is far from ugly. It is a strong combination of the 6 shoes that Mike wore when he won his championships. Plus, the first colorway was done in the Chicago Bull's black/red scheme. Since when has that colorway been considered ugly? I understand that certain Jordan heads like only actual Jordans, not giving new ideas a chance. JordanBrand has made some mistakes recently, but the 6 Rings is not one of them. These are not Dub-Zeros!



So to sum things up, if your still undecided on whether to buy or not, go to your local store and check the shoe out for yourself. Don't just hate from the sideline if you haven't even tried a pair on yet. On foot, this shoe is amazing and I'm still on the look out for the white/purple colorway. Size 4.5 anybody?

Far From Poor...

In UNDFTD’s latest collaboration with Converse, the popular sneaker boutique utilizes an MA-1 flight jacket concept on the Poorman’s Weapon. The profile of the Poorman’s Weapon is met with some interesting features resembling the MA-1 jacket. Such features are the use of black satin as the colorway for the shoe's upper & interchangeable Velcro patches used for the shoe's logos. The Velcro patches itself allowed for quick disposable in the event pilots were captured behind enemy lines. Thus the velcro patches can be removed from the shoe as well. Rounding everything out is the use of an orange liner similiar to the jackets themselves & the Undefeated brand logo on the forefront of the shoe's midsole.






I'm really feeling this project...stay tuned for further info on the release drop.

Pure Crack...

Converse 100th is releasing a slew of perfectly executed sneakers. Using the Chuck Taylor All Star as the canvas for this project, the focus was on blending solid materials & colors together effortlessly. The result is a full patent leather upper coming in three color (white, red, black) with details on the eyelet panel and heel very reminiscent of formal dress shoes. Peep the pics...the end result is amazing.

Because they always seem to push the envelope towards creative innovation, blending designer fashion and classic adidas sport styling. With an emphasis on quality, the 2008 fall/winter collection is stunning, using monochromatic color schemes amongst superb function and comfort. The current release is done so well...I'm at a lost for words. For a die-hard Vans fan like myself, saving cash is hard to do...especially with all the recent dope drops. The next wave of Vans Syndicates have released to my bank card's dismay. Featuring a suede theme that is seldom bad on any shoe...Vans drops the Ranchero Half Cabs. Each shoe comes fully equipped with an embroidered print along the backside of the shoes, a soft suede upper, thick enhanced insoles and premium materials, details we have come to expect from the Syndicate program. Three colorways are available...black, brown & tan.





The Ranchero Half Cabs should be hitting Skateboard shops with Vans Syndicate accounts very soon ...so act like you know.

Kicks/Hi Gets Floral...

I recently came across some sneak peek pics of a collaboration with Converse , Honolulu based sneaker boutique Kicks/Hi , and designer Sig Zane. The Kicks/Hi x Sig Zane offering, part of the Converse Project Red line, appears to be the classic Chuck Taylor All Star in two colorways...Black/neon & Black Silver. Both colorways feature a tropical pattern across the entire base of the shoe, and a bright orange sole. "Eye catching" is the first thing that comes to mind when looking at these pics.

For fans of the Chuck Taylor, this is really a different look so it might not appeal to all. But I actually like these and do applaud Kicks/Hi & Sig Zane for trying something risky. Look out for matching tees, fitteds and other accessories.

Forever...Sho'Nuff!

R.I.P. to Julius J. Carry III (3/12/52 - 8/19/08) who recently passed away from pancreatic cancer. Although he starred in many different roles throughout a stellar career...Carry will always be best remembered as SHO'NUFF, the Shogun from Harlem, the villain from the hit 80s film, Berry Gordy's THE LAST DRAGON.
His lines were soooo classic. Who's the meanest? Who's the prettiest? Who's the baddest mofo, lowdown, around this town? Sho'Nuff!



And I know I wasn't the only one who wanted him to kick Bruce Leroy's pretty ass?! When I say who's the Master...You say, Sho'Nuff!

Neva' Enuff Houndstooth...

Hawaii’s In4mation is showing their creative juices. In4mation, have teamed up with Vans to unleash a new take on the classic Half Cab with the Vans x In4mation denim/houndstooth Half Cab.
The shoe features a denim upper with houndstooth accents as well as classic Vans touches like the original vulcanized waffle outsole. As the shoe is worn during skateboarding, the denim will breaks out to reveal more houndstooth beneath... a hidden layer of fabric...and the look of the shoe will change and evolve the more it is skated. It might even be worth buying two pairs, one to customize into an houndstooth pair...the other to remain denim.

Boneyards...

The final installment of the Stussy x Neighborhood Boneyards collection is set to release this Saturday, August 23rd at Stussy chapters worldwide. This time the featured footwear will be the mid-80s collegiate basketball favorite, the Nike Terminator.



All 3 colorways (Black, Black/white, & Black/Blue) will be available...so don't sleep.
