A Fimiliar Melody...

I'm gonna admit something. The music scene is lacking. It's been lacking for some time now, too. Bunch of bubble gum R&B. A whole lotta' down south thuggin' and crunkin'. Soooo little quality. So sometimes a cat like myself has to venture out and search for something worthwhile to listen to. Let's just say...i didn't have to venture far.
Meet...Raheem Devaughn. He calls himself the R&B hippie neo-soul rockstar. Whatever floats ya' boat, bro. Regardless, the cat is mad talented. And he's from this area. (md, d.c ) Two years ago, Raheem Devaughn debut with The Love Experience...a cd that recieved so much play in my car...It should be warped. Such smooth hits like "Guess Who Loves You More", "Believe", "You", and my favorite "Breathe", garnered regular play from radio stations that didn't mind playing something refreshing.
Now in 2008...Mr. Devaughn follows up that critically acclaimed album with Love Behind The Melody. The 1st single "Woman" has already recieved a grammy nomination, and the rest of the album doesn't disappoint. Raheem changed it up a lil' bit for his 2nd offering, giving you a more old school mid 70's sound. But with his refreshing voice, kinda Marvin Gaye like on some cuts, Raheem pulls it off. Other memorable cuts are "Desire", "Marathon" featuring Floetry, "Empty", and what appears to be the next single "Customer".
If your looking for something refreshingly different, perhaps something to tickle your woman's fancy...go out and cop Raheem Devaughn's Love Behind The Melody and put it in regular rotation on that I-pod of yours. If your from the md,d.c area...What are you waiting for?
